The BETAFPV Matrix 1S 5IN1 II packs a flight controller, ESC, OSD, ELRS receiver, and video transmitter into a board that weighs about as much as a few paperclips. It's the same brain that powers the Air65 II, and it's built for pilots who crash a lot and still want to fly again an hour later.

The headline upgrade is the 12A continuous ESC (18A peak), up from 5A on the original Matrix and Air 5IN1. That's enough surge current for punchy 1S whoop builds. The board is also tougher: a 1.0mm thickened PCB and a 3-point mounting system give it cushioning space during impacts. BETAFPV says that design lowers the damage rate by up to 80%.

Pick your build style. Same board, two versions:

  • Solder-free (4.13g): Motor connectors and the power cable come pre-soldered, so it's plug-and-play. Great for first builds, quick repairs, or anyone who'd rather skip the soldering iron.
  • Solder-required (3.76g): About 0.4g lighter. It ships with 4 gold-plated JST1.25 connectors and a BT2.0 U cable for custom wiring, or you can solder straight to the larger pads to save even more weight. Built for racers and builders who count every gram.
  • Integrated: FC, ESC, OSD, serial ELRS 2.4GHz receiver, 5.8GHz analog VTX
  • MCU: STM32G473 | Blackbox: 16MB | Gyro: ICM42688P / ICM42622 / BMI270 / LSM6DSK320X
  • ESC: 1S, 12A continuous / 18A peak, Bluejay, DShot300/600
  • VTX: 25 / 100 / 200 / 400mW + pit mode, 48 channels, SmartAudio 2.0
  • Connectors: Gold-plated JST1.25 (motors), BT2.0 (battery), SH1.0 4-pin (USB)
  • Mounting: 26 × 26mm, 3-point | PCB: 1.0mm
  • Firmware: Betaflight 4.5.3 (BETAFPV G473 V2 target)

Includes: Matrix 1S 5IN1 II flight controller (solder-free or solder-required version), Type-C to SH1.0 adapter, SH1.0 4-pin adapter cable, 5.8G antenna, 4× M1.2×4 and 4× M1.4×5 self-tapping screws, 4× shock-absorbing balls. The solder-required version also includes 4× gold-plated JST1.25 connectors and a BT2.0 U cable.

Common Questions

Solder-free or solder-required: which one should I get?
Go solder-free if you want to plug in your motors and battery and be done, or if you're replacing a board in a whoop you already built. Go solder-required if you're comfortable soldering and want the lightest possible build or custom wiring.

What does it fit?
It uses a 26×26mm mounting pattern. BETAFPV recommends it for the Air65 II, Air75 II, Meteor65 Pro, and Meteor75 Pro whoops, and it's a great upgrade for any compatible 1S brushless build.

How is it better than the original Matrix and Air 5IN1?
The ESC jumps from 5A to 12A continuous. The PCB is 1.0mm thick (the Air 5IN1 is 0.8mm), the motor connectors are gold-plated, and the board uses a 3-point mount instead of the older mounting design. It's only a fraction of a gram heavier than the Air 5IN1.

How do I bind the receiver?
Plug and unplug the board three times. When the receiver LED starts a quick double blink, it's in bind mode. Put your radio into bind mode and a solid light means it's bound.

Any tips to protect the VTX?
Always attach the antenna before powering the board on, or set VTX power to zero, so the VTX doesn't burn out. For indoor flying, 25–100mW saves heat and gives you longer flight times. A dab of glue on the antenna's U.FL connector is also cheap insurance against crash damage.
